Sarah Palin was on SNL?

I'm a pretty avid follower of Saturday Night Live, so I thought it would be interesting to see Sarah Palin on SNL this week. Big waste of time. Sure she did the big opening, but she really was pretty invisible for the majority of the show! If you haven't seen it... don't bother!

Stash!!

So, after going on a fanatical ball winding voyage, I decided I should list my stash on ravelry. It's probably going to take forever, but hey it's fun. I also think that every damn ball of yarn I own is wound into a ball, because I am obsessed with my new ball winder. I just had to share :D

Fundraiser!!

Hey y'all! The fundraiser was a big success. The prize is going to Gary (who doesn't have a blog but reads mine) He decided rather than yarn, he wanted something hand knitted, so he's getting a bunch of world of warcraft related knitted toys!

Crush or Flush

So, naturally, as I'm always surfing for dating websites. (Hey I'm single, and I get bored, you know you do it too) I came across this one, which is apparently relatively new: Crush or Flush
It's pretty interesting. It actually seems to be free too which is always a plus. It's a bit of a revamp on the old "view my profile send me a wink I can't ever respond because I'm not a member" trick most dating websites use. Basically, you browse profiles and choose to "crush" or "flush" someone. If you flush them, they'll never know, they just assume you don't share the crush. The beauty of it is, people can't chat with you unless you both hit "crush" so it saves you from the 47 year old pervert that thinks your hot :) It's pretty nifty, you should definitely give it a try :) Oh, and I almost forgot to add, it's all REAL people. They use your cellphone to verify you actually exist. They send you a text with a number to verify your membership, and if you don't answer that, you're outta luck! Also, for people with cooler cellphones than me, you can browse the whole thing FROM your cell.

Oops.

So, I got really involved in off line life stuff, and haven't posted in awhile. I'm working on knitting up a new project- the first pair of socks! I have a few people test knitting a fingerless gloves pattern I'm writing. Beyond that... I dunno yet!!

Stupid Fibro...

I have fibromyalgia. I have no idea if I've mentioned this. It just pisses me off- whenever it acts up I can't do anything I love. Right now I'm all screwed up because I had one night where I had to get up way early, and now it's going to take me DAYS to catch up my sleeping schedule. And I'm sore as heck which kills me. Can't knit, can't write, can't embroider....
Anyways sorry, had to get bitching out.

General Question for Knitters

Do you ever just get in a "bleh" mood and want something simple and fast to knit for that feeling of instant gratification? If you do, what patterns do you use?

As a response to one of my comments (Shit I meant to link to you and forgot to re-read it before I started blathering) Thank you so much! I usually just transfer my patterns from chart form because personally it's easier. But now that I know some people PREFER charts, I'll put both in my PDFs. (Except for my two pre-existing free patterns. It would cost more time to make a chart than it did to write those!)

And as promised, car pics!
This is my car after the accident:
and this is my new car!!!

Wednesday, April 30, 2008

Almost forgot:

I GOT A CARRR!!! For those of you who are like "yea, so?" I haven't had a car since January 15. I was in a horrible car accident (we were t-boned) and my car was totalled. So... this is exceptionally exciting for me!!! (Oh and we weren't hurt to badly, I bruised my femur... Zack was fine thank God!)
It's a 1997 Mercury Sable GS Station Wagon. This is excellent because I got a $3500 car for $1000, and it has remote start! How do we live without remote start... lol
YAYYYY

Sooooo... blogger is being a *****bag, so It won't let me post pics of the new wagon. Will post them soon!

Pattern Testing!!

Yay! The new pattern is all written, and I have gotten an impartial outsider's opinion that it's probably good enough to sell! Right now I am testing the pattern, and so is my new friend: http://www.ravelry.com/people/nic2always!
If you're interested let me know! (it's a big pattern 115 stitches by 113 rows).
So.. does anyone read this yet?

New Pattern!

So, it's ... oh I think 10 hours later. I wrote a new pattern tonight, but I'm not going to be posting it yet. This will be my endeavor into "difficult" pattern writing. IE: more than hats and wristies. It's a Celtic inspired bag, but that's all I'm going to say yet! Hopefully, it will be good enough to sell. That's where YOU come in. Keep reading my blog, tell me what patterns you want me to write!!

(does anyone read this thing?)
Love yas!

Not today darling....

No new patterns today! Sorry, just wasn't "in the flow" today. I am working on a pattern, but it's hush hush top secret! Plus... I haven't really started it yet. Today was a ... meh day. People keep asking what's wrong and it's like nothing exactly. I just feel like being a bitch, so stop asking me fuckin questions. I miss my boyfriend, I miss having a car, I miss pretending to have a life by virtue of the fact that I have a car. Meh, I just don't care enough lol. I want to buy the kiddo a wagon, but yea, that'll happen when I win the lottery. So how's everyone else doin?

Extremely, Stupidly Easy Wristers

This is the other pattern I recently wrote. If it gets any simpler I think you could just knit rows over and over. But it turns out a nice pattern with the yarn I used!

Supplies:
1 skein Sunshine Print Red Heart Super Saver
US 3 DPNs
Yarn needle

CO 38 stitches evenly on 3 DPNs (12, 14, 12). Join to begin working in the round, do not twist stitches!
Knit straight until 5.8 inches long. (You can always go with 6- I'm impatient)
RD: Bind Off 8 stitches
RD: CO 8 stitches
(this creates an opening for your thumb)
Continue to knit until work measures 7.5 (or 8... or 7)
Bind off. Using yarn needle, weave in ends!

Hope you like this one!!! Soon I'll attempt some difficult patterns!

Yarn Stash Hat

Ok, so I wrote this pattern mostly to waste some leftover yarn. Then I decided to re-write it in toddler size. Then I thought it was pretty cute, because now my son and his daddy have matching hats!
I'm going to put the yarn I used under the supplies, but feel free to use your own yarns! (Toddler sizes in parentheses)

Supplies:
Bernat Soft Boucle, Black, 1/2 skein
Size 11 DPNs
Yarn needle

CO 72 (36) stitches evenly through 4 DPNs. 18, 18, 18, 18 (9, 9, 9, 9)
Being careful not to twist, place marker if desired
Rd 1-10: Knit
Rd 11: ^k8, inc 1, repeat from^(total stitches will be 81 or 40)
Rd 12 - 52: Knit
Rd 53: ^k7, k2tog, rep from^
Rd 54: ^k6, k2tog, rep from^
Rd 55: ^k5, k2tog, rep from^
Rd 56: ^k4, k2tog, rep from^
Rd 57: ^k3, k2tog, rep from^
Rd 58: ^k2tog, rep from^
Rd 59: Knit
Leaving a long tail, cut yarn. Run remaining yarn through remaining stitches and pull tight. Close off hole with extra yarn.

I know it's very simple, but I've just started writing patterns! I hope you have as much fun as I did!
