Yarn Stash Hat

Ok, so I wrote this pattern mostly to waste some leftover yarn. Then I decided to re-write it in toddler size. Then I thought it was pretty cute, because now my son and his daddy have matching hats!
I'm going to put the yarn I used under the supplies, but feel free to use your own yarns! (Toddler sizes in parentheses)

Supplies:
Bernat Soft Boucle, Black, 1/2 skein
Size 11 DPNs
Yarn needle

CO 72 (36) stitches evenly through 4 DPNs. 18, 18, 18, 18 (9, 9, 9, 9)
Being careful not to twist, place marker if desired
Rd 1-10: Knit
Rd 11: ^k8, inc 1, repeat from^(total stitches will be 81 or 40)
Rd 12 - 52: Knit
Rd 53: ^k7, k2tog, rep from^
Rd 54: ^k6, k2tog, rep from^
Rd 55: ^k5, k2tog, rep from^
Rd 56: ^k4, k2tog, rep from^
Rd 57: ^k3, k2tog, rep from^
Rd 58: ^k2tog, rep from^
Rd 59: Knit
Leaving a long tail, cut yarn. Run remaining yarn through remaining stitches and pull tight. Close off hole with extra yarn.

I know it's very simple, but I've just started writing patterns! I hope you have as much fun as I did!
